Roots of Giving Awarded $100,000 Community Impact Grant from United Way of DeKalb County
Roots of Giving, a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating food insecurity in DeKalb County, has been awarded a $100,000 Community Impact grant from the United Way of DeKalb County. The grant will be used to expand operations and further the organization's reach in serving families and individuals in need throughout the community.
Executive Director Melinda Ebers expressed gratitude for the generous funding. "This grant is a game-changer for Roots of Giving," Ebers said. "It will allow us to expand our mobile food pantry reach, strengthen our existing programs, and develop new initiatives to fight food insecurity in DeKalb County."
The funding will support several of Roots of Giving's key programs and initiatives, including:
- Mobile Food Pantry — Expanding the reach of food distribution to underserved areas across the county
- Snack Pack Program — Providing nutritious snacks to children facing food insecurity
- Annual Coat Drive — Distributing warm clothing to community members in need during winter months
- Christmas Pantry — Ensuring families have food and essentials during the holiday season
- Shop with an Elf — Giving children the opportunity to shop for holiday gifts for their families
- 5K Fundraiser — Community fundraising events to support ongoing operations
The United Way of DeKalb County's Community Impact grants are designed to support local organizations making a measurable difference in the lives of residents. Roots of Giving's track record of community service and its plans for expanded programming made it a strong candidate for the award.
